    i am unable to view the files on many DVDs.I have a Sony DVD drive they are perfectly fine and play on my DVD player and also on the dvd playing soft on my comp but it dosnt show up in 'my computer'. it just shows as CD drive and if i open it it shows it as empty. the videos play perfectly fine. i wanna copy it to my comp. pls help!

    Is it a burned dvdr? burned on a computer or desktop dvd recorder?
    You can try isobuster or cdroller and see if they can find some information on the disc or try on another computer.

    yes it is burned on my comp. but its in good condition and works on a regular dvd player.

    Reboot your computer (without the DVD in the drive). Hold down a shift key while you insert the DVD. Keep holding the shift key down until the drive stops spinning. Go to explorer and open the drive.

    This procedure will prevent any software from autoloading when you insert the DVD.
