  1. Hi there guys,

Maybe this is the wrong place to bring this question up ... but i was thinking about converting ... in this manner:

I have the timeline full - edited. (FullDV)
Compressing that in WMV @1500, or 2000kbps will take ages (actually 3-4 times the timeline ex: 1hour in 3/4 hours)

I was thinking if somehow i can send the timeline to TAPE (which goes realtime) - but instead of tape i would like to use another computer and to capture it directly as wmv with the windows movie maker. The quality of wmv done this way is astonishing (far better than any software outthere (excepting microsoft encoders).

Now my question is - how to do that ? Is there any emulation software to do that ? or there is any hardware that i need to do that ?

Thank you everyone in advance for any information.

P.S. Is there a software that during capture of video from Camcorder/Camera adds a watermark too ?
To cut, or not to cut ... who is the splitter ?

  2. In a soon-to-be-released new version of our Enosoft DV Processor you will be able to do exactly what you are looking for. Basically, it will let you "print to tape" but instead of it going out via FireWire, it is sent over your local network to another PC. That PC can be running Windows Media Encoder (or WMM) that will see the originating PC as a capture device.

You can also use a similar feature on the same PC - we have a client that already captures live baseball games to disk while adding various graphics/logos/scores, encoding to WMV and web streaming all in realtime on the same laptop PC.

Let me know if you would like to try the new version. It is complete and "just" needs the new features to be documented.

If you have your DV format project edited on the timeline, many edit programs (e.g. Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas Movie Studio, Sony Vegas Pro) allow realtime output DV format monitoring of the timeline. Other programs like ULead Video Studio will allow 1x playback of the timeline to DV out.

As JohnnyMalaria says it is possible to capture this to the same machine with the right software but two machines can be used.

Realtime wmv (or MPeg) capture won't be as high in quality as non-realtime but it is 1x.

Maybe you just need a faster computer
    (or some more patience... )

If you use Avisynth + WMNicEnc/WMVMuxer you still can encode with the original
MS WM codecs and will not get a VFR video nor a VSR audio track
(as long as you do not use Windows Media Audio, evidently). 8)

  5. Thank You JohnnyMalaria - i saw that there is no such software, besides the one you say.

So I will try that. Yes!

I do think that there must be a way - like sending out the video to a DV cam or videowalkman or videomixer which has 2 digital outputs (but that's just too expensive).

Anyway - i will do some research and some testing with the soft you say.

And by the way - can you tell me how can i capture from a DV tape with watermark ? I mean that during capture to apply on the fly the text and logos to a video? Or just tell me how do your friend do those

I think enoSoft does that too ... right ?

    You're welcome.

Our software (the same one) will let you capture and apply text/logos on the fly. The new version permits custom text and four independent logos.

Because there is still a lot of documentation to do for the new version, it isn't available in its final form yet on our server. You can contact me (via PM) to get it.
