Well, i have never owned a drive that changed the booktype out of the box, the ton's of drives i have had over the years, i have had to hack every one to change the booktype, have some stacked on my workbench, why i don't know because i will prob. never use them again, have sold some to friends for basically nothing, given them away, thrown some in the trash, handed some down to my kids.Originally Posted by budz
Except one of my daughters bought a system that came with a Lightscribe burner, some generic, and it actually booktyped to DVD-ROM, well actually i'm not sure because i set her up with DVDFab Platinum and it has the option to set dvd+r to dvd-rom, but then again i have used DVDFab Platinum and ti has not changed the booktype so the drive itself may have been set to do it......
Man... the world of choices & options... they sooooooo need to just make all drives set booktype... if some generic piece of crap can do it, they all can with little effort![]()
And as far as buying something then having a new one come out.... i know you're not new :P
I don't care if you wait 24 hours or 24 months, the minute you decide to buy something you are lucky if it is 6 months before they release a better version or model![]()

AMD = cool, fast. Intel is USUALLY stable.
Two drives in my current Dell OLD Plextor PX-712SA, Optiarc (sony) AD7170S both booktype, both burn well. Noahtuck - good luck.
Imgburn, DVDDecrypter never let you down on booktype (if available).
But - you already know that.
I use the NEC settings on the Optiarc (Sony) drive. Works every time.;/ l ,[____], Its a Jeep thing,
