Help, I cannot use 2 pass vbr in TMPGEnc, why?

i am trying to make either svcd or vcd (42 mins film on 80 min cd) and when i select 2 pass in tmpgenc it just sits there after hitting encode. the timer goes but it does nothing with the frames/video.

does it take ages to start or is it something wrong?

It's just doing its first pass. When it gets to 50% and starts the second pass, you'll see it start to show the preview of the frames it's encoding.
