I use TDA 1.6 which allows you to substitute an image for a button, but the imported image is always in a squarish frame. That is, if you want the button to be a cartoon dog instead of the template word "Play", the dvd player will highlight the dog and background around it. I've gotten dvds where only the image is highlighted - like there's a mask outline around just the desired image. What programs offer this? Can I tweak my TDA ware to do this?

I am not sure about TDA, but DVD Lab will let you do that.

Save the desired image in a format that supports transparency, such as .PNG or the native Photoshop format, .PSD

It is not just a matter of transparency. I do not think template based software can work with layers on custom made picture.

I'll give the psd file a shot. I might need some advice if it doesn't work immediately.

Cool. I hope it works with TDA 1.6

LATER: Yes, just using a psd image with transparent background works in TDA 1.6. The menu button highlighting only effects the image, too.
