I thought, "Well, just a few - maybe four or five. There's Babylon 5 and Monty Python. Oh yeah, just got The Adventures of Brisco County Junior." Then I started really thinking about it and then pulled out my Excel inventory list. I was shocked - shocked! - at how many I have:

Babylon 5 (entire series and all the movies)
    Crusade (the B5 spinoff)
    Monty Python
    Brisco County Junior
    Reilly, Ace of Spies
    Sherlock Holmes (starring Jeremy Brett)
    Twin Peaks
    Fawlty Towers
    Cosmos (Carl Sagan)
Futurama (haven't gotten the new episodes yet though)
    Police Squad (in color!)
    Band of Brothers
    Firefly
    Connections
    Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy
    Jonny Quest
    Lonesome Dove
    Ren and Stimpy
    UFO

Some of these I have yet to watch a single episode of, such as Jonny Quest. Others I'd like to watch again in their entirety, such as B5.

  2. Ugh- I have way more than I ever want to admit on tape (26 years worth of recordings) which I am s-l-o-w-l-y transferring to DVD-R. A lot of these don't really require the ultimate picture quality to enjoy watching, so dubbing the tapes to DVD doesn't bother me (other than the time it takes to do) for Seinfeld, Roseanne, etc.

But there are a number of shows that have either always been hard to get off air, or were really crummy quality when they did air in reruns, or had so many episodes it was just too much to keep up with them. For those I scour eBay looking for bargains: usually right about now a couple months after the holidays is a buyers market with everyone unloading their Xmas TV box sets for 70% off retail. Sometimes you can nail a really cheap sale in stores and buy new for less than the cost of used, so thats a factor as well. The point is never to spend $60 for these things, wait till a blowout sale or until someone else gets bored and sells you theirs. Anyway:

Star Trek (the original series only)
    Twilight Zone (original)
    Outer Limits (original)
    Twin Peaks
    American Gothic
    Lost In Space (for laughs)
    Six Feet Under
    The Prisoner
    The Forsyte Saga (1965 version)
    SCTV
    The Rifleman
    Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy
    Shogun
    The Honeymooners
    Fawlty Towers
    The Simpsons
Bob Newhart Show (the first one)
    Mary Tyler Moore Show
    Bewitched
I Dream of Jeannie (the color seasons look amazing- Barbara Eden seems to be 3-D! )
    Soap
    Ugly Betty
    The Office

I'm still hunting for bargains on The X-Files, Mission Impossible, Monty Pythons Flying Circus, I Love Lucy and the Dick Van Dyke Show. My goal is to bring back the schedule Nick at Night, TV Land, PBS and SciFi channel had about ten years ago. Then I can be happy at the retirement village. Course I'll be eating tuna out of a rusty hubcap because I invested in DVD instead of an IRA, but at least I'll have all my old shows to distract me...

I'm not sure the "all the seasons that are released, but..." option really belongs there, as it's not mutually exclusive with any of the other choices...

At the moment, the TV series I have on DVD are:
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
    Ducktales - Volume 1
    Father of the Pride
    Fawlty Towers
The Greatest American Hero - Season 1
    Greg the Bunny
    Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
The Muppet Show - seasons 1 and 2
    Space: 1999 - seasons 1 and 2
    The Tick
War of the Worlds - Season 1 (probably won't bother with season 2 even if they do release it, since S2 sucked. )

plus a whole ton of stuff originally recorded off-the-air onto VHS back when it was first broadcast, like Max Headroom, Probe, loads of classic Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Capitol Critters, etc. I used to be pretty obsessive about recording every episode of any show I took a liking to, so I've got quite a backlog to work through -- although stuff that has since come out on DVD have since been pushed to the back of the queue in favor of things that are still out-of-print and significantly less likely to be released anytime soon. (I'm guessing no one's really interested in releasing Fish Police, for example, seeing as how it only ran for 3 episodes. )

I use an old homebuilt computer that I converted to a dedicated dual tuner DVR a while back, and edit out the commercials using VideoReDo. At first I concentrated on replacing my old VHS copies, but I am now adding additional series. I use single sided DVD's and slim jewel cases that I buy in bulk at about 42 cents per DVD with case.

    So far I have Completed:

    Star Trek (The original Series)
    Star Trek TNG
    Star Trek Voyager
    Enterprise
    Planet Earth

    I am still working on:

    DS9 (very close to complete)
Twilight Zone (very close to complete)
Outer Limits (very close to complete)
    Eureka
    Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
    Sherlock Holmes
    Monty Python

    Possible future additions are:

    League of Gentlemen
    Black Adder
    Fawlty Towers
    Seinfeld
    Monk
    Connections

    BIIIIIRD-MAAAAAAAN!!!!! :P

I really liked the Herculoids too!

I recently got the awesome U.F.O. boxset (some of the hottest babes in that! silver mini-skirts ooh-yeah!), The Prisoner boxset, The Invaders, Ultraman Vols 1 & 2 (absolute CLASSIC)... yeah all '60s TV series heh... brilliant!

Also have Blake's 7, Star Trek (original series), Space 1999...

ALSO... Deadwood (some of the BEST modern TV drama ever, AND OF COURSE AXED BY THE GREEDY STUDIO EXECS)... GO SHOVE YOUR STUPID FAMILY-FRIENDLY G-RATED CGI ANIMATION MOVIES UP YOUR ********, ********!

    Ren & Stimpy...

I want to get the Get Smart complete box, but it's too expensive (argh TimeLife! ). Also I wish the ol' Batman series would come out on DVD... if only them greedy studio execs (see above) would quit being greedy about it. Also want to get all those Benny Hill shows, I've seen it advertised. Benny Hill is my hero!

Oh yeah, everything on DVD btw.

There is one series I'd like to own and see, DARK SKIES, but apparently they've been piss-balling about with the dvd release for years now, something about licensing of the music score. What a load of crap. Anyone by any chance had on it videotape, and maybe transferred it to dvd-r ????
