    One of my all time favourite movies. How do I convert it to hdtv x264?

    Ok what is your source? Is it a hddvd/bluray disc? Is it a high def capture? We need more detail.

    In that case you don't need to any upconverting to hdtv, it is simply not worth it and will ruin your original source.

    Use a converter like super found in the tools sections on the left of the screen:

    Do not use a codec pack! That is bad. Just use whatever variant of 264 you want. Since you are in ntsc land you will use 720x480 as your resolution since that is what dvd spec is for ntsc.

    You might want to use divx/xvid instead of 264. It is probably more suitable for whatever your final destination is (ie portable video player or settop divx compatible dvd player). However if you intend to just watch it on the computer than any form will do.

    You can't convert DVD to HD quality. If you just want h264 then use dvdfab or automkv and convert to mkv/mp4 h264.
