I have a DVD made by a friend (animation and stuff). It has a menu which is not in English. I want to remove this menu (so the new DVD would play right away when I insert it). Is that possible? If yes, which softwares should I use? (Preferably freeware).

DVD Shrink in re-author mode will let you remove the menus.

Or you can use PGCEdit to simply jump over the menu to the first title.

Great! And this will not touch subtitles, right? Because the first thing I tried was to convert the DVD to mpg (using VOB2MPG) and try to extract the subtitles and join them all again, without a menu. However, Subtitle Workshop couldn't show the mpg file created by VOB2MPG, and I couldn't make sure subtitles would remain sync.

VOB2MPG doesn't rip subs, and the mpg container can't hold subs.

DVD Shrink and PGCEdit will not affect subs at all.

DVD Shrink is the easiest. Open the disc in Shrink, click Re-author, then drag all the titles across from the right to the left hand pane. Check the audio and subtitle tracks to make sure what you want to keep is there, then click Backup to create a new disc structure on your HDD. Burn this with Imgburn.

Thank you! I used DVD Shrink and it only took less than 5 minutes to do it

Now I have this problem: The subtitle is sync (even in the originial DVD) in the beginning, but as it reaches the end, it appears about 4 seconds sooner than expected. I know how to fix this with Subtitle Workshop if I'm given the video file and subtitle file separated. I don't know how to fix it when they are all in one. Can you advice? Is there any other software I can use? Does DVD Shrink allow exporting and importing subtitles?

I found some help, but then I faced some new problems. I've asked them here. Thanks for your help.
