  1. I'm using the lastest version of DVD fab and am trying to convert a movie to xvid at 5000kbps and dvdfab will never out put it out at that even though i have picked "fixed bitrate"

    Any ideas?

  2. Hi-
    Any ideas?
I assume it's finishing somewhat below 5000? If so, you've saturated the codec. 5000 is a pretty high bitrate. You've already achieved the best possible encode given your settings, and the AVI can't use any more of the bits. Doesn't it look pretty good already? The only way to achieve a greater filesize/bitrate would be to change your settings. Use a higher resolution, for example.

I've never encoded an AVI using DVD Fab (and never intend to), so I can't be more specific than that. Also, Fixed BitRate (CBR encoding) is an inferior method to use. Use Fixed Quality (if it has that or something similar) or 2-pass Variable BitRate (VBR) encoding for better results.

What bitrate are you getting ?

Most standalones will choke above 2000 anyway.

  4. when set to 5000 what i get varies sometimes 2900kbps but usally below. They will be played on my PC so 5000 isnt to much.

Eeven using a high rate the dvd is half the size.

I've used DVDFab in the past and got the bitrate up to 5000 so i know it can do it. I don't know what version it was though.

I need 5000kbps, i need it on a 60" screen. I stream the movies from my PC to a PS3 to a 60" HD TV and i can see a differance in 1500 and 5000.

Dvdfab will do 3000kbps and i can get it to do 5000 when doing a small clip from the movie which makes no sense to me.
