I am having a problem playing DVDs in WMP 10 and 11 and Real player. The video plays great in each of them, but there is no audio. However when I play a DVD in VLC, Media Player Classic, and Nero Showtime it plays fine with audio. I have not downloaded any codec packages or anything like that. I just have what came with each of the programs. I have used Gspot and the Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup utility. Gspot told me I had the proper codec to play it and the decoder utility told me I had the proper decoder. Any ideas????

what dvd/mpeg2 decoder do you have? the windows xp video decoder checkup utility should tell you this.
and have you checked the advanced dvd settings in wmp? under tools->options->dvd->advanced.

vlc,mpc and nero showtime are using their own decoders for dvd.

You might try installing AC3 Filter, though I don't know if RealPlayer will use it.

The decoder is Cyberlink Video/ SP deceoder, Decoder File Name:CLVSD.ax Version: 6.0.0.1006

I have checked the advanced settings and they are set at 2 speakers and I switched back and forth on the other setting to no avail.

I already have the AC3 filter

JMO, but WMP is not a good player. Even in the latest versions. It has to 'phone' MS before it can play much of anything. If VLC plays it, what's wrong with VLC? RealPlayer also seems to be a resource hog and 'phones' Real at every chance. I would use Real Alternative Player instead if you need to play Real videos. (It uses Media Player Classic.)

WMP can be difficult at times to configure, probably because it's a bit too closely tied to the OS and shares it's 'Protections'. Gspot told you that you have the proper audio codec. Which one? The AC3 Filter may not be agreeable with WMP or it has problems. I would un-install and re-install it.

I don't really mean to be negative about WMP or Real, but they don't seem to work that well. Again, JMO.

You could also try un-installing and re-installing the Cyberlink program, in case it got damaged at some point.
