Here's my question: I have a lcd tv hooked up as a secondary monitor. If I play my x264 videos through media player x (such as media player classic) is it possible for the quality to be better than if I play it through media player y (such as gb-pvr). I would assume they'd be the same since I'm using coreavc as my decoder in both. Is it possible for there to be differences caused by the player itself?

I don't know but I would try latest ffdshow instead of coreavc, http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=920229 . Maybe better quality in latest coreavc versions though.

Yes. A player can perform some processing on the video as it plays it. Most players use the graphics card's video overlay features. But some don't. This might cause a difference in performance and appearance (video overlay has its own proc amp settings and video scaling).

Yes it is rightly said that two different player can show different quality of output because most of the players uses its own codecs to decode various video files. Certain file open in Media Player Classic but we cant play does videos in Xing Media Player. So don't worry and Keep upgrading your Media Player for best results.
