  1. cheers

I haven't done this in a very long time.

w Yade X I can select a VOB and make three files:

w 'save VOB' i get the file called ABC.vob. qt, no sound

w 'save streams' I get two files: ABC.m2v and ABC.ac3

then I guess I combine them somehow? was it w Streamclip?

    is there an easier way?

    cheers and thanks again

QuickTime Player doesn't play sound in muxed MPEG-2 files with AC3 audio (such as .VOB).
You could open the VOB file in MPEG Streamclip and 'Convert to MPEG with MP2 Audio' (which will convert the audio), to make a file that will play with sound in QuickTime Player.
However, QuickTime Pro will not convert (Export) audio (any kind) from muxed MPEG-1/MPEG-2 files. So, if you plan to convert further, you should look into other tools. MPEG Streamclip among them.

Either your VOB is weird (copy protection on the DVD?) or your QuickTime isn't as stable as it should be.
