I don't prefer either. I just choose the hardware that I like/want and then use whichever connection type that it uses.

I use KVMs so I use PS/2 connections. I hate the USB KVMs
Got to listen to that windows sound of the USB being disconnected everytime you switch is a real pain -
Well both are OK to use. Until Windows looses drivers and USB keyboard does not work. The only way to get it back again is to put back PS2 k/b. Boot windows then boot down again and plug USB back. Then it finds drivers again. Thats what I found anyway.......
Keep going till you get it right!!! -
I prefer USB, but I have the same problem at times with losing the USB connection to the device, so I use PS/2 more often.

For me it is easy. If the computer has PS2 then that is what I use. Why tie up a limited resource, USB ports, when there is no other real use for the PS2 ports. The only time I use a USB Kb or Mouse is if that is all the computer has.
You will never be able to move the mouse or type to fast for either port.
The one benefit that USB has is that it doesn't have tiny pins that can get bent by careless users.
I have been using the same PS2 Kb/Mouse at work and unplugging and plugging day after day as the computers to be worked on change. No Problem. -

Other, usually minor, problems with USB is that other devices on the USB bus may cause problems with a USB KB or mouse. I don't know if that is a polling issue or a bandwidth issue. -
I use ps2. Just simply because I want to free up all my usb ports for other stuff.
Though I am actually using the ROCKBAND usb 4 port adapter for my vista pc. It works fine even though it says "xp" and for "use with rockband only"Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
I also prefer PS/2 because I don't have to worry about 'legacy' issues and it keeps my USB's free.
Most of my mice are USB, but I have those little green adapters to plug them into the PS/2 port."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

USB.My work PC has only PS/2 available so I use that. But at home USB.Probably because it's newer and it lets you hot-swap devices.
