  1. Ave,

If I have High Definition MKV's (x264) or WMV-HD's, is it possible to convert/author them so then can play in a standalone HD-DVD Player? Anyone knows of any way to do this?

    Thanks!

AVISynth and hcenc, quenc and ulead dvd moviefactory, read more in http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=13013931 . If you want easier methods then you have to wait for convertXtoHDDVD.

Maybe the new tsremux or tsmuxer could be something, but I guess they just can mux to mkv.

Ulead DVD MovieFactory will re-encode your video and as someone who uses it for HD DVD (I use MPEG-2 HD sources from TV captures), you will NOT be happy at all with what it does. Not at all.

Scenarist accepts more than MPEG-2 for HD DVD video input, but whether it will accept your files or not without re-encoding by something else is a question that I cannot answer. Upcoming releases of Scenarist will no longer support HD DVD authoring and given Scenarist's cost and non-intuitive features, I can't really recommend it unless maybe you have used the DVD authoring version before and you either have a lot of money or a way to get a "demo" version of it.

Hmm....didn't we just have this discussion...yes, https://forum.videohelp.com/topic345417.html . It's basically same for mkv with h264 so closing this.
