  1. You mentioned HDMI was disabled, They HAVE to let you use this. I'm thinking there may be a connection with HDMI and the Firewire both being disabled. Have you purchased any HD channels?

    SFAIK, the "legal" justification for using this port was if you had a DVHS recorder, which apparently observes all the copyright protection rules. Whether or not you should be able to record premium content was somewhat unclear.

    I would test with a local station or non-premium channel, but you have to get the port working.

    Yeah... believe it or not, the HDMI port was "disabled".

    The Firewire port was marked as "unavailable".

    I do not have any movies channels on my cable account, but I do have the regular HDTV network channels. They show up as widescreen on my regular television, and say HD on the bottom corner, along with the network logo.
