    Hi Guys,

I downloaded VirtualDub and the MSU Subtitle Remover filter to get rid of embedded subtitles in an AVI movie that I have. However, I'm a newbie when It comes to using VirtualDub. Can anyone please give me detailed step by step instructions on how to completely remove the subtitles in the file? If anyone can provide this, please note that I also need help with adding the filter and adjusting the settings (When I add the filter, the settings box comes up; I play with the settings, click OK, then in the box where it lists all the filters, I click OK and the whole program coses without any messages. Is this normal? Do I have to reopen the program and do something else to get the subtitles to disappear? There is no SRT or SUB file in the directory.

Any good advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

(Sorry if any words are misspelled.)

    Try this one: http://www.compression.ru/video/subtitles_removal/index_en.html

And if you are using Explorer as your browser, try IE Spell for spell checking. http://www.iespell.com/

The .vdf file is the filter. If you put it in the VD plugins folder, it should be available to VD after restarting the program. Look for it in your VD 'Filters' listing.

thanks redwudz, however I need more help.
the MSU filter guide said "choose first pass OR second pass", but first pass is sub detection and second pass is sub remover. I tried to use both options and still did not work. I also notice that when I choose "read subtitle mask" the virtualdub is turned off immediately. when I choose "write sub mask" the virtualdub ran but did not remove sub at all. do you have any idea?
