The Doom 9 forum is AWOL.

After refreshing the link a dozen times I tried the top level and found this news item:

the forum server is currently unreachable and since the admin is currently on a plan (or will soon be), we'll have to wait a bit for things to get back to normal. Sorry :(
So if anyone has further news, or notices the forum has come back, please add a post here.

Yes, I'd wait a while before panicking. The site went without updates for a few periods of as long as 2 - 3 weeks during 2007, all of which had good explanations. (Admin being away, or too busy.) They have been a wonderful thorn in many corporate sides for a long time, but I wouldn't count them out just yet.

There can be various reasons for sites to be off the air. To give just one example, the global (non-U.S.) servers for Shuttle Computer were AWOL for a couple days very recently. Evidently, that severed undersea cable that hobbled the Internet for parts of India and the Far East was responsible.
When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.
