    Hello All, (newbie)

    Can you help me please?

Why is it that my burned DVDs (using Roxio 8 from an image file created in Roxio) play great at home on my player but on other players it will skip and/or freeze? These 'other' players work fine with commercial DVDs.

I have upgraded the firmware on the burner and am using a Sony recommended media (TDK +R 16x).
This issue is driving me crazy!

Are there other software programs that will burn image files better?
    What is the magic bullet?

    Thanks.

I would first try different media, www.nomorecoasters.com .
Then try different authoring/converting/burning software, Tmpgenc DVD Author, Ulead DVD MovieFactory, etc.

Your Roxio software and Sony recommended media (TDK +R 16x) are not held in high esteem here. Try Baldrick's suggestion.

    I found this:

IMG is an image/iso of a DVD, CD, Floppy. Burn it to a DVD or CD with DVD Decrypter or extract the content with Isobuster or mount it as a virtual DVD/CD unit with Daemon Tools.

Use ImgBurn to burn. It is the burning part only of DVD Decrypter, updated and kept current, from the same author.

That, and making sure you have the latest firmware for your burner (which you said you had), and using good quality media as Baldrick and bendixG15 mentioned will go a long towards getting good burns.

I see at http://www.nomorecoasters.com/ that TDK is a First Class (A) quality. Isn't that OK?

Imgburn worked perfectly but the DVDs still had a few 'hiccups' when played in a 2 year old dvd player. What to do?

Only if the Media ID is TDK. This is not the "brand" as printed on the label/box/whatever.

Most recommended discs are Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden.

As for the "hiccups", it could be either the media or the "hiccups" exist on the authored files. ImgBurn just feeds the bits to the burner to burn onto the disc, it won't have caused the "hiccups".

Ah ha. Now I'm getting it. I downloaded DVD Identifier and will check the media to see if it is the real deal. Thanks.

If you are getting hiccups it could also be an overloaded system which is underrunning the burner during the write. Make sure you are not running other programs while burning.

Some people get better results by reducing the burn speed, but don't burn 16x media at 4x or below - more problems may kick in.

OK. I always burn with no other apps running.

I checked all the media I've been using.....it's all crap! The best I have is 2nd class. Gonna get some Sony class 1 and monitor the results.

Hopefully your help will keep me from going crazy

    Thanks you.
