    Late night all.

I finally got CCE 2.50 (at least) to work for me, via AVIsynth.
But, I STILL have the problem with audio - no audio. Keeps on
crashing just as it did before (w/out AVIsynth). Since I just
am starting out with AVIsynth, i'm new to it and frameserving
    it to CCE.

heck, at least I got it to work. So, for now, I don't care
about the sound (audio) I only care about trying it out and
testing or comparing it to my TMPG SVCD encodes. That's all!!

Anyways, I've ben playing around w/ the Bitrate a bit now.
And, it's pretty much driving me kind of crazy.
Anyways, so far, i've used a dvd source "Dogma" and these
are my figures so far with CCE 2.50 :

    For 1000 frames:
    ----------------
    * 2400.300.2600 3pass.9.8MBsize (good quality)
    * 1150.300.2520 3pass.4.7MBsize (fair quality)
    * 1150.300.2000 5pass.4.7MBsize (bad quality)
    * 1150.300.2000 4pass.4.6MBsize (bad quality)
    * 1150.300.2000 3pass.4.6MBsize (bad quality)

    CCE 2.50 SETTINGS:
    ------------------
The above results were based on these settings...
    [x] add sequenc end code...
    [x] upper field first
    [x] half horiz res....
    [ ] half vertical res.
    [x] progress frames...
    [x] Linear quant scal...
    [x] Zipzag scann...

    (0) 16 to 235
    ( ) 0 to 255
    DC prec. @ 10
Aspect ratio: DAR: 16:9 ...DVD "dogma"

    GOP: 3x5.1.1.[]restrict.[]close all GOPs

    * I use AVIsynth to frameserve a "01.avs" file to CCE 2.50
    * I didn't use VD in any way.
    * I did NOT use any "filters" in AVIsynth.

    My thoughts/conclusions are:
    * based on my limited use of CCE, and more use of tmpg,
I find (based on my current cce 2.50 setting above) tmpg
puts out better quality use CQ_VBR. I didn't even use
    it's 2pass.
And, in CCE 2.50, I use 3pass in the top one on the list.
    * Speed, was much better than TMPG!!! But, at the sacrifice
of quality, I'd be better off with TMPG.

Ok, and, now, for those who will probably argue with me...
Instead, what values do YOU recommend I use??
I will try them out and get back to ya.

Thank you all for your support.

  2. Use ReSampleAudio(44100) in Avisynth script. CCE must have audio input. I use TMPGenc for 1500 bitrate or lower, CCE for higher. Try 1200, 1800, 2400 (4-pass) for 352x480, 100+min on 2cd.

  3. I agree with Nelson, try the Resample line, then just uncheck audio & convert it through some other app....also, I wouldnt use CCE with an average bitrate below 1500..mine are normally 300-1700-300..I also would do a DC of 8 instead of ten..luminance of 16-235.

    kdiddy and nelson (others)

right now, I'm not too interetsed in the audio part. I'll maybe work
on it another time if I should feel that CCE (2.50) can produce good
encodes (svcd) (vcd not so good)

Ok, so U R basically saying that
my setting below in the bitrate
windows order is too high??? :
    * 2400.300.2600 3pass.9.8MBsize (good quality)
...and that I should use 300.1700.300,

I get this error every time I try and open CCE when I drag this file
01.avs. But, when I first do this,
drag in a "01.vdr" file, I get this
    message below:
    AVIFileOPEN("d:\dogma\01.vdr"): unknown error
...and then I click the ok button and then I can drag my "01.avs" file and CCE will encode w/ no problem.

So, I'll continue doing this since it's hte only way I've ben able to
get CCE working. Go figure! Like i said, I finally got CCE to work.
    I sure's hell got a weird system!!

Ok, back to prob at hand.
I will try right away!! and get back w/ results. But it's strange
you all want me to use such low
values for SVCD or SVCD. I'd like
to encode to 352x480 xSVCD though.
    .
    .
Well, sorry dudes, but so far its not working. . . your
Avg. Min. Max. (this order) values of:
    Avg. Min. Max.
    300.1700.300
is not work. Keeps putting in 1700!!

    WOW!!!

    holy ShIt-hole in one!!

since my last post, it still taking me this long to encode a
    1020 frames. . .what's that, 20+ minutes, and it's not even in
halfway through??? Holy ShIt-hole!! 4get this crap!! Guess I
was wrong after all. he, he.....
CCE sucks too! Me thinks me will give up on this chump! I
never seen my harddrive grind so hard and long. I just stoped
CCE from encoding the "01.avs" file, and instead, I loaded up
TMPG and fed this same "01.avs" file, and it encoded the 1020
frames in 3 minutes! What the Fart is up w/ this crap??
    Fagetaboutit!! he, he.....

I'll stick with TMPG. As crappy as it is, my harddrive dosen't
    grind for half an hour.

Ok, just to put you guys out of your misery, these are the settings
I used, per your instruct (wish they were cleare, cause I'm not
a CCE guru) So, based on your vage numbers, I use:
in the order that CCE puts them in, and I'm assuming you guys
gave me it in the same order, else what ta Fart you screw me here
    on, he, he....
    Ok, values:

Multipass VBR set to 4 passes
    avg. min. max.
    --------------
    1500 300 1700
    and, DC set to 8

also tried 300.1700.300 but cce would bump 1700 in all cells
or some other number. What the Fart's up w/ that?

Also, remember the setting I laid out in my prev. post, those haven't
    changed.

so, basically, TMPG rules, and CCE pretty much just looks stupid from
my point of view. Later for it. I don't want to deal with this
nonsense any more. I've gone through it all with TMPG. It's enough!

As you can see, i'm pretty fed up with CCE now. So, I'm calling it
quits before I really go crazy!!

    Good night!!

  7. Dude you give UP WAAAAAAY to easy....first lets start over..first lets start by posting what your AVS script was. Why do you have AVIopen line in your script if your original is a DVD...you should be using mpeg2dec.dll to open the d2v file created by DVD2AVI....CCE 3 PASS will be as fast as 2 PASS TMPG anyday & better to boot...

Is CCE for the faint at heart? No.
Will you master a perfect encode of CCE in one night? No

Well, correction to my ShIt-hole in one thing. . .he, he....

In short, something happend in my system, and cause my
remaning 10g space to screach at 155mb space. So, sorry
about calling CCE crap!! He, he....

Anyways, I'm stiling giving CCE another try... for the umpth
teenth time already. Anyways, it's crashing on me every
so often. One encode works, another doesn't. I can't work
like this with CCE. I'm still trying kdiddy's suggestion
of 300.1700.3000, but am running into problems with this
setting. I can't get the Avg. to stay at 300 as kdiddy
stated above. it's constantly jumping back up to 500, no
less. and then, the 1700 for min. bumpg down to 500 and
stays there too. as for the max. 3000, that's fine.
it stays there. But CCE's unstableness on my PC is causing
me to sway away from it altogether shortly. I've ben at
it since 6pm this eveing, and it's now 9:28pm. As far
as reading guides, I have some many CCE guides. But they
are useless unless CCE shapes up on my system. I can't
work with it going up and down at random. TMPG doesn't
do this. I like TMPG I just don't like being dicked
around w/ the develpers constant bugs here and there. But,
the version(s) I use are fine for my projects. Still farting
around with VCD, since my Satalete still insent straighten
out yet. ...I don't have sat any more for the time being.
There's a matter to settle. So, I can't do my captures
    till then.
well, I have 3 new DVD's I bought, and to add to my collection.
...so, I'll play around to keep out of trouble till Sat
    is streighten out.

Oh, kdiddy, since I am now able to d/l your sample clip
you offered me to taste. It better be worth it! He, he....
    or else, he, he....
before I get a chance to look at it, is it DVD source or a
    Capture source, sample??

OH, another thing, here is the source line I'm using in the
    ".avs" file:
    ----------------------------------
    LoadPlugin("c:\w98\system\MPEG2DEC.dll")
    mpeg2source("d:\dogma\01.dogma.restuarant.01.d2v")
    ----------------------------------

Thanks everyone for putting up with me!

    Hay kdiddy,

I can't seem to view you sample clip

I've ben trying, all this time, and between my harddrive grinding.

...down to 155mb again. Don't know what's going on here again.

anyways, maybe I think it's because of all the crashes i've ben having
with CCE. I'm going to have to do a reboot, but I don't want to close
down just yet, with surfing either.
I hope it wasn't garbled up by the internet traffic/staticky phone lines, etc!!

I'm hoping it's a good clip. You didn't say what it is - probably a
    secret, ya bummm!! Ok.

Well, I have some other things ta do around here still. I'm going
back to my TMPG projects now. it's ben a while now, since this weekend.

Thanks for all yours and others support here w/ CCE.

  10. LOL, dude you need a little more patience..when someone posts 300-1700-3000...its given that you under that is in the form MIN-AVG-MAX..IE

    min = 300, avg = 1700, max = 3000

Its only logical, why or how could your avg be less than your min value??..LOL

for the rest, check my reply to your lentghy private message...LOL

  11. Yeah, I also almost gave up on CCE. Then I thought: **** this Frameserving shit, **** it right in the ear. So now I am making Huffyuv AVI files with VirtualDub (like 10GB for an hour of video, size 352x480/576) and it works. Then I feed that file to CCE with the highest possible average bitrate I can get with 2x90Min CDs and that's it.

But I am dying to know. You people recommend 3000 as max bitrate. I am not quite sure my Pioneer DV-343 can handle a max bitrate of 3000, does anyone of you know if that's right or if I am mistaken there?
    SiCN - the real one!

  12. 3000 was just given as an example, because my player can handle bitrats that high. The only to find out for sure, is to encode some chrot CBR clips, say for example 2600, 3000, 3250.....in order to find out what the max your player can handle.
