    Ive got a .mkv file that VLC player usually plays. in this case it gives me the above message and won't play it.

    anything I can do?

    well Ive solved my own problem by luck alone:

    I opened the file w QT by using 'open with ...' and then QT at the top said done w AutoMKV 0.92 then a web address. after it opened I did a save as and changed the tile a little bit and Im done.

    still would like to learn more about the problem
