  1. Trying to use WMM 2.1 to edit MPEG files made recording HD & SD TV with a Pinnacle USB Stick digital tuner & its "TV Centre Pro" software.

WMM shuts down or becomes unresponsive either upon importing or placing clips on the timeline or trying to play clips from the timeline.

    WMM and mpeg2 = buggy.

You could try change the default mpeg2 decoder with Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility , http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=DE1491AC-0AB6-4990-943D-627E6...displaylang=en . If just one installed then you can try for example ffdshow, powerdvd, windvd, etc.

Or the best solution, use a mpeg editor like videoredo, mpeg video wizard.

I've experienced some very long hangs with WMM and WME when trying to import MPEG2 but it has always eventually loaded.

I have to agree with Baldrick. I've recorded many television episodes and old VHS tapes and have always edited with VideoRedo.

It'll import MPEG2 files made from my Hauppauge PVR350 happily.

Trimming commercials and making clips are incredibly easy with a little practice.

    ...worth every dime...
