I'm trying to install dvd santa but I keep getting the following error:

    C:\windows\system32\divxdec.ax
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32
    failed with exit code 0x80000007

Can someone help me with this problem? Thanks!

Do you have a Divx codec installed? Or if you do, I would re-install it. It seems to relate to that. If that still fails, you might try FAVC, it's freeware. Or for a few dollars more than DVD Santa, ConvertXToDVD has a much better success rate than most All-in-One converters.

I'm going to try and use FAVC. I've used ConvertXtoDVD but it freezes my computer. I've never been able to convert with it. I'll let you know how the FAVC program works.

    Thanks

I converted a movie with FAVC but it only converted half of the movie. Do you know why it only converted half of the movie?

I looks like you may be using a laptop. I'm not sure why it quit halfway through. It could be a problem with your original file or the program or the computer. Do you have enough free space on the hard drive? No issue with overheating of the CPU on long encodes? If your computer details are correct, you are running about the minimum RAM memory for using XP. I don't think that's the cause, but you might monitor CPU and RAM usage through Task Manager as the program runs and see if anything odd shows up.

But the most likely cause is the original file. You could try some other files and see if they have the same behavior. A Xvid/Divx video may play fine in a software player, but have problems during encoding. A software player can ignore some errors but encoders can't,

Do you seriously only have a 15GB HDD ?

To create a DVD will generally take more than half of that space - 4 - 5 GB temporary files, then another 4.38 GB for the finished disc, plus your original files. Add windows to that, you have used all your space without putting any other files on the machine.

I've never had a problem with hard drive space when converting a movie before. I was converting movies fine with dvd santa until I started having a problem. The problem I have with dvd santa is stated above. I don't think HDD space is a problem. With FAVC and ConvertXtodvd it may be memory but I don't know. I make sure when I'm encoding I close all my running programs and not work on the computer before starting. I'm going to try another movie file. So far for me dvd santa was the best program me and it was simple. If trying another movie file don't work I will try to reinstall divx codecs to see if that will help with installing dvd santa.

If any of you have any more suggestions on another converter , let me know.

    Thanks

How much free space do you have ?

Running close to full can cause programs to sto running as Windows cannot create enough page file space. With so little physical memory, you will need a decent page file. Just because it worked in the past does not mean this isn't the cause now.

Of course, as you paid for the software you are entitled to support from DVD Santa. Have you called them for a fix ?

I have 8GB of free space on HD. I've always been able to convert before, but I think the programs I was trying to use was using too much memory. I've tried to email DVD Santa but the email came back undeliverable. I will look on the website to find a phone number. I did convert the movie with WinAvi Video Converter and it worked just fine.

    Thanks for helping.
