  1. I am using the panasonic conversion software to concert my avi to mpegs, I then use easy cd to burn them into vcds. Though this has worked, my tv resolution is unclear. Using the panasonic sofware It does will not let my change the resolution in the PAL or the NTSC format, also when I encoded in the MPEG 1 format it gave me an error as I tried to convert the mpeg into a vcd. I have tried to get info on altering resolution but I have not found what will work. Please I need help trying to encode my avi for the best possible resolution and picture for my tv

    thank you D

  2. Increasing resolution will make an XVCD and Panasonic does not support it, i suggest you use the free (so far) TMPGEnc, there you can have more control over your encoding.

  3. Thank you,

I am now using TMPGE. What would be my optimal setting to get good tv resolution burning a PAL or an ntsc vcd. the default resolution is terrible on my tv

  4. What size TV do you have ? cause VCD looks great if ripped from a high source and DivX is NOT a high quality source (Even if you think it is, it's enocded source, therefor lacks information required for encoding).

  5. you do realize that the larger the tv, the worse you can see blocks.

I have a 27" tv which i think is the average of most people.

I do test my quality on a new 36" tv i also got and the quality rca vs s-video really is no difference really.

Some movies i have made looks better on a 27 than on a 36 but that was a long time ago when i was doin some quality tests.

My friend has like a 19" and his tv is so small, i could probably encode a movie at 500 and look perfect on his tv, lol
    Its just too small.
My guess, you probably have a larger tv than 19", correct?

    Hi,

I've settled (for now) on SVCD, Constant Quality, 2200/sec Max using TMPGEnc. This allows me to get 45-50 minutes on a CD. These play as well as my cable TV on a Pioneer...343 DVD player.
