    Hi,

I have been trying to convert a MKV file for playback on my PS3.

First i registered the .dll so that GotSent would work on Vista (i have the 32-bit version), I then loaded up GotSent (ran as Administrator), Loaded up the MKV file and set up my AC3 Filter options like so.

    Output Format:
    3/2+SW 5.1 Channels
    PCM 24-Bit

Everything Else i left as Default.

Audio works fine, until it gets to 1 hour 22 minutes then it just cuts out. I had tried encoding it with 2.0 Channel Audio and there is no problem, but i really want surround sound.

So i did a bit of searching on this forum, and then i decided to use MKVextract to split the Audio and Video. I then tried to use Yamb to join the files together but it wouldn't accept the AC3 file.

avidemux also would not let me use the AC3 file. Error Message - Could not open file.

So then i decided my only option was to convert the AC3 to AAC so that it can be recognised in Yamb.

So in order to convert the AC3 file to AAC i used BeLight, with the Nero Codecs and the 2 Nero AAC .dll files. But i get an error when i hit the Start Processing Button. The Application told me to check the Log.

The error on the log was:
    Error 84: error configuring bsn!
    Quiting...

    So i did a search and it appears that i don't have a bsn.dll (at least i think i don't have one)

So what are my options? I would really like to keep it as 5.1 Audio.

Would really appreciate any help i get on this,

    Thanks.

What audio does the source have ?
If it is 5.1, does it play all the way through ?

Try running the ac3 from mkvextract through ac3fix, then using mkvmerge to put the fixed ac3 audio into a new mkv with the original video.

Here is the MKV information from VLC Player:
    Stream 0
    Codec: avc1
    Language: English
    Type: Video
    Resolution 1280x528
    Frame Rate: 23.976215

    Stream 1
    Codec: a52
    Language: English
    Type: Audio
    Channels: 6
    Sample Rate: 48000 Hz

I'm assuming 6 channels is 5.1? Or is that classed as 5?

Also the audio does play the whole way through, it even does when converted to 2.0 Audio, but not 5.1.

Using AC3fix (i used the GUI) how do you know if any frames were fixed? As looking at the DOS window it didn't look like it fixed anything? It looked like it just checked the frames.

    Thanks.

If you play the mkv all the way through, does the audio cut out ?

If you play just the ac3 track in VLC, does the audio cut out ?

You might also try mkv2vob to see if oyu have more luck

I tried this and it worked it also worked converting it to VOB with GOTsent but the problem with this is that the filesize (4.8gb) is too big for FAT hard drives, and too big for a DVD5, as an MP4 it was 4Gb.

Do you think it may be a Vista issue? Eventhough it is the 32-bit version

OK so i'm thinking this must be a vista issue....

It must be as i converted another MKV with GotSent and the audio cuts out at the exact same time, 1hr 22:54sec

So i will have to try it on an XP Machine.

Or is there something, someone else could recommend?

FWIW, I have several DVD players / recorders that will all play Divx files with 5.1 AC3 audio. One of them (ironically the most expensive) will sometimes have audio cut outs during playback of 5.1 AC3 audio. if it has drop outs in a file it will consistently drop out in the same play in that file. The other players, and the PC, will play through the files without issue. I can demux, remux, AC3Fix and it wont make any difference to that file. And yet the next file it may well play without any problems at all.

If you experience the same issue with other files then it may well be a Vista issue. If you are only having the problem with this file then it may still be something peculiar about that file.
