I'll try to make this as simple as possible. I connected my Philips 3575 into my Dish Network box with a S-video and standard audio cables. I then ran an HDMI cable to my TV. Everything was working great for a few days, I even recorded several programs and successfully played them back. However, today I go to record a show and it records nothing but a black screen!!! When I switch to my HDD mode it's completely blank, however I can still hear the audio. The most confusing part is that I can see my program guide from my satellite and flip around, but the image in the corner is black.
I've tried everything I can think of. I tried a different S-video cable, I've tried searching through the menus of both the 3575 and my satellite box, and I can't figure out what's wrong. I even took it back to Wal-Mart and exchanged it for a new one, but the same thing is happening.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Sounds like maybe the Video > Video Input has been changed to Video In, but should be on S-Video In. That's one possible cause for hearing audio but seeing no video?
The default is Video In (Composite) so that could be changed with any kind of Reset procedure, or just by accident. -

The "black screen in the corner" would be where the current broadcast should be displayed. So although the SAT box is sending video to the recorder, it no longer appears to be sending the broadcast video. The only channels that may not be viewable, would possibly be pay channels (HBO/Showtime/Pay-Per-View).
Either way, it sounds like something has changed in the SAT box. Either a setup change, software update/change or hardware failure.Google is your Friend -
Thanks everyone. The problem was my satellite box. I powered it down manually and let it reboot and it fixed the problem.
