    Hi there.

I have a DVDRip (3cd) and i want to convert it to DVD.

Together the full size of the movie is 2h37minutes.

I want to burn it into a DVD 4.7 I wonder if will be a significant loose of quality.

I know that more than 2houres into a single layer DVD will loose quality but my question is that consider this is a XVid DVDRip, the movie will loose significant quality or just a little

I have burned three hour movies with no problems. Your resolution is 352X480 instead of 720X480. Viewability is very good. If you must insist on 720X480-burn to two discs.

My authoring app doesn't allow to change resolution.

It fits the DVD with bit rate. In my case the final average bitrate will be about 3500kb

Is it good enough? My movies used to be 5000kb to 7000kb

Actuali it does allow to reduce resolution.

    But whats the best choice?

    720x480 at 3500kb

    or

    352x480 with more than 3500kb????????

2.37 gives you around 3.500 kbps to a DVD-5. What resolution you choose, doesn't matter (for what bitrate you can use to fit the disk), but at this low bitrate, 352x480 will look better than 720x480.

Of course your source has a large impact. That it is 3 CDs implies that it is downloaded, probably in Xvid/Divx format, and therefore of moderate quality at best. I suspect that FAVC will keep it pretty close the quality you have now, although it can't join the parts into a single title.

Personally, I'd just burn it as an Xvid avi and watch it like that. If your player can't play Xvid/Divx files, it's time to upgrade.
