I've posted a couple questions super recently, and while it sure is helpful to get the replies, I'm afraid someone is going to reply to this with the old Rosanne Rosanne Adanna line: You ask a lot of questions for someone from New Jersey. Well, Santa Cruz in my case, and yes, that's a pretty old Saturday Night Live reference.
Anyway, my question now is about the sensitivity of the hub on a DVD. A standard DVD case is what I've always used for my backpacking slide show/movies I create for friends, and I figure that's best because they do not put any pressure on the inside of the disc hub the way CD Jewel Cases do.
But I see CD Jewel cases sold as CD/DVD interchangeable, and sometimes smaller quantities of blank DVDs actually come in jewel cases.
Is there a greater sensitivity for the hubs of DVDs compared to CDs such that they shouldn't have pressure fit stuff going on pressing from the inside of the hub?

I don't think there's much difference between the disks themselves
The major difference with cases is how the bottom of the disk sits in the case
some rest flush with the disk actually on the bottom of the case
others leave a little space in there keeping the disk off the bottom (recommended)

the major difference between cdrs and dvdrs is that dvdrs are made with 2 layers of plastic with the dye sandwiched between them whereas cdrs are 1 layer with the dye on top.
personally i don't like using cd type cases for dvdrs as they tend to be too snug. it sometimes takes quite a lot of bending to remove the disc. i've never broken one but....
the only dvdr i've ever had break was one that was dropped on it's edge and it split completely in two.--

There was a post a while back where the poster was having problems with DVD discs cracking at the hub. He traced it down to poorly manufactured or improperly sized centers in some of his DVD cases being too tight, if I remember correctly. So it apparently could be a problem.
I think this is the one: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic340419.html?highlight=hub%20cracking -
fulcilives - hopefully not. it was an unpleasant experience the first time, even if it was a low quality memorex dvdr. shocked the crap out of me. thank goodness it wasn't anything important.
