Most dvd players don't have any problems with svcds over 45 mins. The time display may be inaccurate beyond a certain playtime but I don't think this is of too much concern. I know the Philips line does have some issues with seeking when the svcd is over a certain length but they should at least still play. I frequently put over 45 mins on a cdr without problems.

Sean an hour and 50 mins on one cdr at 480x480 resolution would surely yield quality so poor that it would be unwatchable.

stop it, stop it, stop it, stop it..or show me!

that would be ermm..an avg bitrate of 700-800 and crappy sound, not compatible with dvdplayers..najs

It would be compatible with dvd players. The only video bitrate limit for svd is a max of 2.6Mbits, there is no minimum level required. The problem is that it wouldn't be compatible with our eyes because the quality would be so bad.

  9. That's right...might as well stick to vcd at that quality.

    I agree with agzz.
It must be a low, low bitrate and so can't be STANDARD SVCD.
    Bye

    Do you read previous posts?
SVCD standard has no minimum bitrate level. So it is probably a SVCD , no XSVCD, no SVCD-X, no!#?%
