i'm new here, but I have a question. i have a medium-quality avi that i'd like to take some frames from to print, the only problem is that the video itself's a bit dark.

is there any software that grabs a frame and touch it up a bit without me having to take each frame, save them, and open them in PS? It seems from reading these forums that by grabbing frames from WMV or MPC i'd have to laboriously open them up one by one in photoshop to tweak them. is there something out there that does this all in one go, maybe even making the image quality better as well ?.

I heard about something called Paparazzi made by Redhawk Vision that does exactly this but they dont seem to be around anymore, I can't seem to find their site. anyone know anything about this or have any suggestions? thanks in advance.

Quick and easy, load the AVI into VirtualDub, add the brightness/contrast or the HSV filter, adjust the brightness. Then 'Preview filtered' it. Stop the preview, open the 'Video' menu, grab a frame either to the clipboard, (Open in paint or other editor and change the format to what you want and save.) or just Snapshot it if you want .bmp, .png or .tga formats. You can move back and forth to the desired frames with the arrow keys.

If you want more control, there are plenty of VD filters available to make it look the way you want. http://www.thedeemon.com/VirtualDubFilters/

VLC & Media Player Classic can both save stills from video...if you've adjusted brightness/contrast in your player to the point where it looks good to you, the frame grab will also look good.
