pc & mac ddr memory, are them different or you can take ddr from mac and put it into pc and vice versa and is that gonna work?

i know there are lots of different rams out there, but i've stated that it's about ddr, which means it's not about ddr2, not ddr3, not rambus, not sdr sdram, etc... i need to know about ddr... if you want speed, let's say pc2700

If you are asking if a Mac uses anything special compared to a Intel PC for RAM, no. It varies by model and speed but if it uses DDR2, most DDR2 will work if it's the same speed, voltage. If you are adding RAM to a MAC, as with any computer, you would want to use the same brand also.

As mentioned, best is to go to a RAM manufacturer's site and use their tools to chose the proper RAM.

My G4 Mac uses PC-133 RAM, but it's a few years old.

You can also use the built-in System Profiler in a Mac to get memory info. Click on the apple icon in the menu bar, then 'About this Mac', then 'More info'.

They can use the same RAM, yes. But you need to be concerned with speeds and pins, not "Mac vs PC". In terms of RAM, there is no Mac, there is no PC.

alright thank you people, but anyway on the net i've read that there are sorts of ram which are 'mac designed' memory... my aim primarily was to figure out if that 'mac designed' ram works with pc, from your answers i can conclude that the answer is yes... the stick i'm curious about here is M9284G/A, i've googled for it but can't figure out who the manufacturer is... can somebody help me out please?

The reason is that some motherboards are picky what they will work with.

Just ran into that today in fact. Dell memory from one model Dell that didn't work in another Model Dell. OTOH A Kingston memory did work. So no easy answer.

However think mabout it, if all DDR memory was interchangeable would the memory makers be making so many models?
