    Baldrick,
I notice that Win2000 is now hosting vcdhelp. I am not in a posistion to make any judgements here, but wouldnt BSD be a better solution? What do you think about Win2000 being used? I know you run it at home, but what about the site? Especially now it seems to be under stress ALL of the time, is this because visitor numbers have soared or that the hosting simply doesnt scale well? I thought that Apache under UNIX (a *BSD) served dynamic content the best and scaled better than windows under load.
Is it just that the visitor numbers have soared, or perhaps a few bugs in the forum?
It is just that this site seems to have used windows2000 since early january, and things arent rosey anymore.
    What gives?

    PS
I feel this could seem a bit trollish, but I am honestly being sincere when I post this.

  2. Well, that would explain the slow loading times i've been having from home, which is why i haven't been here for awhile, i'd also strongly suggest using a different OS for the site, it will vastly improve performance compared to now.

i cant do anything about the server(it is mushkin.com that hosts it) and the slow loading times is mostly because I have the forum on the main server(it was on dvdrhelp.com but that server become too expensive so I had to move it) and I have also made all the user lists more dynamic without optimizing them first.

The first step is too move the forum and it seems to be solved really soon as I have got help with a fast server from www.guygraphics.com

It seems that our webprovider(mushkin.com) are going to throw out win2k and install linux after all (problems)....and also upgrade the server to dual processors.
