  1. Maybe somebody can help me with the flw question: Since I bought a Pioneer 444 DVD player I started to experiment with VCD.
According VCDhelp a VCD MPEG file should gave a resolution from 352 x 288 pixels, but as I do not like the quality I burned a VCD with NERO like this "MPEG-1 720x576 25fps CBR 2000kbps, Layer-2 48000Hz 224kbps" (converted from AVI(DV) to MPEG with TMPGEnc) .
And do you know what? It plays on my DVD player and the quality is perfect (almost, MPEG2 is better...).
Can somebody tell me or explain how this is possible?

  2. You created a PAL XVCD, which just means that the specs. aren't VCD compliant. No big deal, some players will play them and others won't. You can check the DVD Players list and see the max bitrates per player, as well as some user comments on their experiences.

Can u tell me how many Mb are there in your disc?
And how long is your movies?

I usually convert DV to svcd using Tmpgenc. The quality is good too.

  4. You should be able to get about 797mb per 80min CD-R without overburning.
