  1. Hello all!

Recently I noticed that XViD is falling apart, if I set a certain file size it comes out completely random the quality is completely rubbish... So I was wondering about the x264 codec. It's really becoming popular so there must be some good in it.

Now I was just wondering how do I create a .mkv x264 file? I'm recording shows off my IPTV (MPEG2) just for the fun of it, and I need to edit the video before converting it, since I need to cut out the commercials and stuff like that. So what's the best way to do that? I would need a list of programs and stuff like that. The complete newbie guide .

If there is one on the page please paste a link to it I could not find it with the search function.

    Cheers

Edit with videoredo and convert with AutoMKV would probably be easiest.

  3. Another option would be to use avidemux (it behaves like virtualdub with "mark-in, mark-out" to edit commercials), and it also is an easy to use front end encoder for x264
