Hello all!
Recently I noticed that XViD is falling apart, if I set a certain file size it comes out completely random the quality is completely rubbish... So I was wondering about the x264 codec. It's really becoming popular so there must be some good in it.
Now I was just wondering how do I create a .mkv x264 file? I'm recording shows off my IPTV (MPEG2) just for the fun of it, and I need to edit the video before converting it, since I need to cut out the commercials and stuff like that. So what's the best way to do that? I would need a list of programs and stuff like that. The complete newbie guide![]()
.
If there is one on the page please paste a link to it I could not find it with the search function.
Cheers

Another option would be to use avidemux (it behaves like virtualdub with "mark-in, mark-out" to edit commercials), and it also is an easy to use front end encoder for x264
