    Hi,

My friend wants to record from his Xbox 360 and we seen this YouTube tutorial thats the best way:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=YxnxpDel8WA

Now he has everything that video is using (except the audio cables in as he doesnt need audio).

But when he opens the program to capture it shows as Black and White...

Now at first we thought it could be a PAL / NTSC issue, but we live in the UK so we're PAL.

When we put it on PAL, nothing shows, just blankness... but when we put it onto NTSC we do see stuff, but its in black and white.

Any idea how to fix this?

We tryed the LIVE SUPPORT and FORUMS for Pinnacle's Official site but they were completely useless.

    Thanks,

    Rowan

Is there any way to tell if the game itself is NTSC? European televisions have no problems displaying NTSC....so I'm not sure you can use the fact that it looks OK on TV as a gauge.

Well I would think the Xbox is PAL/Europe... and you can only play PAL games on them so its definetly PAL.

According to the video's comments that you linked to....there ARE games that are in Europe that are NTSC.
IMPORTANT: If you live in the UK your TVs will play the newer games like Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 at PAL 60. The dazzle dvd recorder can't capture at pal 60. You need the platinum dazzle.
I think you'd better check the disc/game again.

Almost certainly this is the old PAL/60 issue that we have discussed endlessly with you UK guys. Basically quite a few of your games are in PAL/60 format and almost nothing can correctly capture them. I've read about a few cards that can, but I don't remember what they are. Do a search for other posts here about the subject or do a Google search. I found a card or two last month when some guy too lazy to do his own searches complained about this very topic, but you can do the work as easily as me to find the cards yourself. Or just find the old post here where I listed a card or two that I found that supposedly can do this.

Dazzle products are notorious CRAP by the way. Mine is complete garbage(though it is pretty ancient). Tried to use it twice....failed both times....bought a real capture card after that.

So... if we didnt wanna use the dazzle... a capture card could just be a very basic one aslong as it takes Video-In and audio if needed...

Btw if your GFX card had Video-In (yellow) could you just use that?

The video card would need to be able to record in both PAL and NTSC...OR
be able to record the quasi/fake/hybrid signal sent out when an NTSC disc is played
    in a PAL machine.
With those requirements....your choices are quite limited.

  10. i've solved this problem, it's easy, most people probably have put xbox settings on my xbox -> system settings -> console settings -> display -> PAL settings, there it gives you the option to be PAL-60 or PAL-50, to get the capture card to record in colour use PAL-50, that works for Halo3, Forza3, Assassin's Creed 2, Mass effect 2. not gonna say all games coz not used on all games but corrected it for all games i used it on... your welcome :P
