Hi,
I use the WinDVD creator 2 software to capture the videos off my camcorder, it works excellent that way, then I go through the editing and authoring and save my work at that point, sometimes I can spend hours editing, adding titles etc. to the video, then I burn it to a DVD and it works flawlessly.
That is all good, BUT now when I go back to the files I saved with the .wcp extention it won't open them, it only comes up saying invalid file, and if I do get it to show up it only shows my edit points not the video between the edit points, so I'll have the opening title, then a black box then another box with more of my titlling, etc. but no video with it.
So to get around it I take the original DVD I burned with everything intact aand convert it to an mpeg4 file, and even a .avi file and when I go to open that file it only shows the audio portion of it, no video, even if I use windows media player 11 to open the file it treats it as an audio file.
The funny thing is, I could open these files before and continue to edit and add to them if I wished, now for some reason they can no longer be accessed to be worked.
Thanks for the help.

Update to my original post: I was told of a fix that worked for me by oracle128 from another forum, he told me that most video editing software stores it's saves in it's own folder/file and unless the files are there when you go to open the .wcp file, in my case it won't find them if you moved them, which I did, I saved them to a disk and them deleted the files I saved as I normally do when i backup my laptops files once a month.
Well when I wanted to rework that video I just went to my backup DVD of it and copied it to my desktop to be able to work it, then when I went to click on the video I wanted to work on in the folder, the .wcp file, it said such and such file could not be found, I didn't pay attention to what the rest of the box said, if I did it would have saved me a lot of heartache.
It was telling me where it was looking for the files, it took oracle128 from the other forum to open my eyes to this, I was blind, anyhow after I took all the files in that saved folder and moved them to the original location that they were at before I pulled them off my harddrive and that the program was asking for everything worked, now when I click on the video editing project file everything comes up and I can now work on it like I use too!!
I hope this post helps someone too, in a nutshell, if you move the original editing files to another location on your harddrive or burn them to a CD or DVD to save and then remove them from the harddrive BE SURE that when you want to work them in the future that you put them back exactly where they were originally before you ever moved them
This help is pertaining to WinDVD Creator 2 video editing software, I don't know if other software is as picky when it comes to saving and moving files? -
