Aside from searching the manufacturers website and/or contacting them directly, there isn't a listing or database that I've seen. You will likely need to find/search for models specific to your region.

Strongly agree with Krispy Kritter. My limited experience is that players sold in North American and Europe typically ONLY support Latin and Cyrillic character sets for Divx subtitles and nothing else. You'll have to find a player in your region that can do this, if such a player exists. We've had some people in Israel complain about not being able to find players that can play Hebrew subtitles, so that just illustrates how typical players we can get in our part of the world don't support anything but Latin and Cyrillic character sets.
Maybe it would be good to find an Iranian video forum to ask this question at.

  4. try Toshiba, I think you can change the code page on this unit and display any language.

  5. Find instruction in Toshiba SD-4990 owner's manual, it support unicode and also many languages. It only support .srt, .sub, smi, ssa, ass, psb, not idx/sub. so you can save your subtitle files as Unicode. I am not sure whether this is working on other Toshiba products.
