Why are you trying so hard to defend a technology / brand ? No skin off my nose whether it works or it doesn't, I'm interested in the stated effect on consumers - and one stated the effect.

Sony may have come up with the technology, but they can't MAKE the other studios use their copy protection. I'm sure they'd love to make money on the system, but it doesn't cost them a dime if the other studios don't go with it. The blame is not all on Sony. The other studios are interested in protecting their investment.
