    i have downloaded an attachment but it is a .safe file format. anyone can help me to open it? any software needed? thnx

    I'm not finding any references to '.safe' format. I would be very, very cautious with whatever that is. I would suggest you delete it unless you find better info.

    check to make sure you don't have the view option "hide extensions for known file types" marked and on. otherwise your "xxxx.safe" attachment might really be "xxxx.safe.exe" - it's the easiest way to try to fool people into opening harmful attachments.

    '.safe' is a file extension used by the 'SafeIT File Encryption' system which encrypts files including email attachments, you need to know the password to open them.

    Do a Google search on "SafeIT encryption" and you'll get the information you need. (If it is one of these file types).
