Is there a work around so that the date will appear when using CapDVHS? Someone suggested Enosoft but it is not free. Might as well put the date as title. BTW, what is the purpose of not having this capability?

This is because the date is ovelayed on analog playback only and not exists in the frames.
The only way to keep it is to capture analog, but to not loose quality you'd better capture native HDV.
Technically they can't offer it at native HDV capture because this is lossless copying of the data.

There are tools that can extract the datecodes from a captured DV file, and either create subtitles or overlay them on the video. Have a look at dv_datecode or the Ensoft Dv processor, both of which are free.

  4. FYI, our software is for DV, not HDV.
