Hi all,
I've created a video in Premiere 6.0 and exported the movie as an avi file (uncompressed).
The file size is 25GB. (1hr 49mins)
I have tried creating a DVD in Nero 7 (using Nero Vision 4 I think).
It takes about 8 hours to convert and I am writing at 1X speed with VBR encoding.
The problem I am having is the dvd keeps freezing and skipping when played in different standalone machines.
I am using Philips DVD-R discs.
Is there any other software I can try, as I don't want to keep waiting 8 hours with trial and error.
I have ConvertXtoDVD can this be used for creating a DVD, or should I be trying to convert the avi file to MPEG2 first.
Sorry if this is this is the wrong place to request this type of help, but I'm really desperate, and any help would be much appreciated
Thankyou

For skipping and freezing, the first thing I look at is the media. Philips isn't that great. Try finding some Verbatim.

The weird thing it is fine on my pc.
Are there any other brands that work better than Phillips.
Thankyou for the quick reply -
If you are using a P3 700, it will take quite a while for any conversion.
Generally, you don't really want to use uncompressed AVI.You could use Lagarith Lossless Video Codec or HuffyUV and you should still preserve your quality, but have much more manageable sizes. Very large files may be a problem with some systems.
Going from a 25GB file to Nerovision seems a little strange.I don't see an advantage there.
I don't know about Philips media, but you can check it to the left in 'DVD Media'. I would try Verbatim instead.
You might want to rethink your conversion methods.
ConvertX does a good job of conversion to DVDs. If you want to end up with a DVD with better quality, I would look into a encoder like HC. It's freeware. Or you could try FAVC and use HC and you may end up with better quality than ConvertX, with quite a bit more control of the finished product.
Just a few suggestions. -
