I have a Philips DVP-642 that works great. However, I recently tried using AutoGK with the standard settings to convert a movie to an AVI file and then burned it to DVD.

I put the DVD in the player and the video is very strange looking. THe colors are all washed up and it's pixelated and such.

I played the file on my PC and it looks great.

Is there something I need to change? I now see that this player uses the ESS Vibrato II chipset so do I need to turn on that check box in AutoGK for the ESS compatibility or whatever it is? I don't know what happens if you don't to know if that's what I'm experiencing or not.

And when I set AutoGK to 75% mode, it said it was ignoring the stand alone settings anyway so will that just not work?

    Thanks for any help.

That can often be due to custom matrices in the AVI. You can try the trick of hitting the System menu button twice on the remote, to see if it helps the video play correctly.

Yes, having ESS compatibility mode enabled in AutoGK would be a good idea.
