I had recorded several mp3 songs on a CDRW disk
I then quick erased the disc
I then recorded several mp3 songs on it
To my horror I found out that the mp3 songs were all
jmbled up with the old songs
So I think it is better to use the full erase (20 min)
than the quick erase (1 min) option
to erasse the contents of CDRW discs
any opinion or different exprerience?

"Quick Erase" is used for UDF packet writing formated CDRWs, ie; Adaptec/Roxio "Direct CD" . It removes the file reference from the "Table of Contents" only - not the files. If you are using a NON-FORMATED CDRW, you must do a "Full Erase".

The quick erase option is just a user friendly way of saying erase the TOC. Since the TOC contains all of the information necessary to link to actual data on the disc, this is often sufficient, yes? The complication is when you take a disc that has been used previously and attempt to use the UDF packet-writing format on it. Basically, if you are going to packet-write a disc, always do a full format. However, if you are going to burn to a standard disc format that uses sessions, (ISO-9660, VCD, CDDA, etc...), you only have to do a quick-format, regardless of what was on the disc previously. This is because the TOC and any part of the disc necessary to store the new data will be completely overwritten.
