Hello everybody,
I'm glad to enter this community!
I'm owner of a Pioneer DVR 920HS, my Hard Disk has problems and I probably have to replace it.
It has now a Maxtor 250 gb QuickView and I want to insert an equivalent one.
Before doing that I'd like to install again the firmware, but I don't know where to get it![]()
Can you help me?
My second answer concerns the replacement:
I looked the entire post concerning the upgrade of a DVR 520 hard drive, but unfortunately no mention to my model and I'm in difficult, as the Pioneer dealer asked me 260 € to replace it !!!
Anyone can help me?
I understood I need several things:
starting from the service manual, a disc or DVD and a Pronto or equivalent.
Where can I get all these things??![]()
If some of has performed this operation in 920 model... please write down how to!!!
Thaks in advance.. I love my DVR![]()

Hi
The procedure to do this is the same as for the DVR-520/720H.
According to the Service manual it seems that you will have a ''firmware'' on the ID Data Disc GGV1179 for this unit. This I can how ever not be sure off as I havent tried it my self.
How ever the firmware for DVR-930 should work on am DVR-920! This 2 DVRs even share the same Service Manual!
Read this http://www.pioneerfaq.info/click/click.php?id=129 guide, it will tell you what tools you need!

Hello once again,
sorry for the two weeks mute, I have had some work trouble.
Thanks to everybody for the support (especially you, Hakan) 8) .
Tomorrow I'm going to make this update, now I've all I need: Manual, GGV1179 disc and the PSP Sony as remote (emulating GGF1381)
I've just one (another one) question regarding the Hard Disk:
I've only one choice and is the SEAGATE BARRACUDA 250Gb series 7200.10 (the store I use to go is in trouble getting the 320 gb).
It has 8 mega of buffer instead of 16 ... could it be a problem in your opinion?! -
Do not have the Pioneer unit but am interested in the issues with a replacement drive, both DVD and HDD.
I doubt the buffer size would make a difference but would bow to others that have worked with the Pioneer
Seagate bought out Maxtor some time back. They do have units that have a 16mb buffer.
You might check Seagate and a drive availability in your area. -
Yes I did it.
Now I have a brand new and functional 250gb Hard Disk.
I'm glad that in this model of Pioneer is not so complicated this modification to manage.
The new hard disk works well and I wonder why the officialPioneer Service asked me 258 euros to do this operation...
With the great help of Hakan (thank you) I saved around 180 euros!

HI all, I am desparately hoping that someone may be able to help me.
I have a Pioneer 720H which unfortunately has a broken (160GB) hard drive. The most unfortunate part is that it contains some very sentimental personal video data. I am therefore needing a working 160GB drive from which I can raid parts to repair the broken drive and restore the video data. To broaden the scope slightly, these drives were used in a number of DVD recorders of this era. I know for example of LG, Toshiba and JVC
Have any of you perhaps removed a working 160GB drive that you would be willing to sell me?
The drive is a
MAXTOR DiamondMax 16 160GB ATA/133
Quickview (manafactured 21st June 2004).
Most important is that the PC board is labeled (close to the spindle of the hard drive)
301593100
POKER/KOI/LITE
I would be eternally grateful -
