  1. I have a couple of DIVX movies that are split up in 2 parts of 600mb a piece but I don't much difference in the quality if they were 700 total (as most full length movies are). Does anyone know of any free programs that I could use to convert the movie from it's existing 1.2 gb to a more managable 700 megs.

Well, that's good that you don't notice any difference because most of us here would. AutoGK is free and can do this, but it's not the easiest program for newbies to use. If you want an easy program to use, if you buy the Divx Pro software at http://www.divx.com, you can use it with Dr. Divx (I think it's at http://www.drdivx.com) and Dr. Divx is VERY easy for newbies to use. I don't use Divx a lot myself, but I use Dr. Divx when I want to encode because it gives me enough control over the process to satisfy me. AutoGK is incredibly bitchy about what it will encode, which another reason why I use Dr. Divx - it's a lot less fussy about what it encodes.

  3. Other free programs you can try are AviDemux and VirtualDub.
