Just put together a Home Theater system and I want to create some demo-type DVDs; stuff with nice sounds and graphics that'll show off the capability of my rig.
I managed to get a whole bunch of interesting trailers from here:
Code:
http://www.demo-world.eu/
but I'm not sure how to put these .vob clips onto a DVD so it'll play in a system that's not connected to a computer. Playing these clips is no prob on my computer, but my HT, with its Pioneer DV-466 player, is in my living room.
Advice would be appreciated![]()

You can use Tmpgenc DVD Author pr DVD-lab or free tools like guifordvdauthor, dvdauthorgui or dvd styler.
-
You need to (what's called) "author" them. There are specific tools for authoring, some of which will accept VOB files.
One that springs to mind is TMPGEnc DVD Author - it's a fully functional 30 day trial and pretty intuitive to use. It's also very popular, so there's plenty of guides and people to help if you get stuck. There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
Carpe diem.

And you have to make separate multi vts/tracks if the vobs have different audio or video settings. TDA, DVD-lab pro, guifordvdauthor supports it.

I'm trying to use TDA to make a DVD out of some VOB-clips I have but TDA doesn't seem to want to open them.
I've been trying to read guides about TDA but they all deal with .avi's or .mpg's as video files.
Would you mind telling a n00b like me step by step how to open the VOBs in TDA? -
According to the manual TDA will accept only .avi or .mpg type file.
You can get TMPGEnc Xpress to make MPG out of .vob or use DVD Lab to create your DVD from .vob files.
There is also Mpeg Video Wizard DVD which will take .vob end create DVD with a simple menu. -

TDA opens VOB's only after they've been properly authored to a VIDEO_TS folder with the associated .ifo's and .bup's. I believe the OP has simply downloaded .vob file(s) - likely a combination of different vob files with different specifications.
I suspect that that will allow you to accept VOB files
in that there is an "Add DVD" button to import VOB files -
It's possible to just rename the filename.vob to filename.mpg and use the "Add File" to begin the process.
Just a thought but I would think it smart to start by ensuring all the vob's / mpegs whatever the op is working with are of the same framerate aspect ratio etc.. The website he's getting them from have quite an assortment of DVD BR HD SD WMV-HD VOB's.
TDA is going to want some consistency from the files you're using to build the new DVD. -
Thanks for your comments, everyone. I'm learning, headaches notwithstanding
OK, I guess TDA stands for TMPGEnc DVD Author (and OP stands for Original Poster)
Seems like I should use TDA but only after I've used some other prog (?) to ensure that"all the vob's / mpegs whatever the op is working with are of the same framerate aspect ratio etc"
BTW - the guy who runs the demoworld website (http://www.demo-world.eu/) reckons that Nero Recode would do the whole thing. Comments?
