Just got myself a biostek xs-300 HD xvid/divx player, working very nice so far except it will not play ye olde files encoded with divx3. I'm a bit of a newbie at all this converting stuff i can do basic stuff in virtualdubmod check files with gspot and thats about it.

Should i just convert files to divx6 or xvid if so which and with what settings?
Is there anything that might make the player play them?
Is there something else really obvious i should do? (and dont say buy a different player :P )
Should i have posted this in the conversion forum or this forum?

Hope someone can give me some pointers.

    Thanks

Easiest would be to use AutoGK or Avi Recomp and reconvert to xvid.

I prefer AutoGK and it has a setting to make standalone compliant files.
