    Hi,

My old laptop would play 720p fine but 1080p mkv files would cause my cpu to go up to 100% utilization and the file would playback extremely slow with the audio out of sync.

I was hoping my new laptop would be about to handle these as it has a faster processor and even a HD DVD drive however the higher bitrate 1080p mkv files still play back with the audio out of sync.

The thing i find strange with this laptop is that the computer never goes past 70% yet the video still plays back choppy when I attempt to play a 1080p mkv file that is encoded at anything higher than 9Mbps.

I am using the CCCP (ffdshow) as I heard that coreavc is poorer quality.

Would a CPU upgrade to lets say a T7500 fix this problem? Or would it still play out of sync as these files are only currently maxing out my CPU at 70%. Any other upgrades or suggestions?

    My system specs are:
    Toshiba A200-TH5 Notebook
    - Intel T5450 CPU
    - ATI HD2400
    - 2 gb ram
    - 5400 rpm hard drive

Use Ac3filter, haali media splitter, latest ffdshow and play with mpc. Avoid codec packs.

  3. CoreAVC will work better than ffdshow on a dual core CPU.

Went with your advice and just downloaded the separates! Had coreavc and did absolutely nothing - I really didn't think it was going to work and I was a bit gutted hehe so cheers

I was wrong! when it got to the action scenes the ffdshow failed to keep up...

Get CoreAVC Proffesional so you get multi-core support and it's perfect

    cheers all
