Ever since switching to leopard I find that if I try to run videos in fullscreen they play back slow and choppy. However when I play them in VLC they run fine.

Im not sure if its a codec issue (i have perian installed) but im not sure, perhaps it's just quicktime??

At first I thought it might just be Xvid/Divx files, but it's also occuring with my own films that I've exported from Final Cut.

    Quicktime or Quicktime Pro?
Anything else going on in the background hogging the CPU
    during playback?
Last time you fixed permissions or ran DiscWarrior to optomize
    the Volume Bitmap Directory?

Last, what version of Quicktime? 7.3.1? 7.3.0?

Just thought I would mention this is on a 1.5 GHz Powerbook G4 with 1.25 gb.

My big monitor is running at 1440x900 butt even on my laptop at 1024x768 its a little laggy.

also I should note that even at "fit to screen" it runs perfectly fine, its just when it goes into full screen mode that I get the lag.

Do you experience the same laggyness using Miro
    in FS mode?

I tested this on my work laptop ( sorry to get back so late)
but playing apple guided tours, a few avi's and mp4s from the
web, even the Dark Knight Trailer downloaded from Quicktime's
website in FS, I get no laggyness.
    ( Intel Core Duo 2, 1 gb ram, Leo 10.5.1, QT 7.3.1)

you could try a clean install of Leopard, or re-download from
the QT website QT 7.3.1, and clean install it.

well i just tested it with an m4v file (diggnation) and a movie exported from FCP:

the diggnation plays perfect at regular size, but feel screen we get a slight reduction in frame rate.

my film from final cut was slightly laggy in regular mode (i should note that i had to change the dimensions so it was in widescren - something apple talks about doing for iDVD) and VERY laggy in full screen.

a regular 4:3 file from FCP plays nice in regular mode, and lags at full frame.

and this is on BOTH monitors (1440x900 and 1240x768)

once again I need to emphasize that everything is FINE in VLC.

Ooo! A new wrinkle! Everything is also fine in FRONT ROW -- its just the bloody quicktime player!

Seems QT Player is defective....I was unaware Apple broke it
until I tried to play a Gotham Girls SWF file, and then
went over to Apple's Discussion Forums on Quicktime
to see they have broken the player on most things.

If Front Row and iTunes work great playing back, I
would just use those. Me, I'm sticking to Miro.
