  2. Im actually using a different outlet, but the same surge protector. I hadnt even considered it was that. I assumed they either worked or didnt work. I didnt realize a particular outlet on a power bar could only provide "partial" power.

I"ll try another power bar this evening.

  3. Focus on what changes between the Working condition and the NON-Working condition.

Do NOT, repeat NOT, at ANY TIME, look at one of those differences and say "this couldn't be it". Because then, that will be the last thing you check, and guess what?

A stuck or defective keyswitch or keyboard could cause this. A defective mouse could cause this. Monitor appears to be ruled out, though i have not seen a definitive answer on whether it boots in safe mode or what happens. Refresh rate or res set too high could cause this issue.

Power issue is possible though very unlikely from description. This is where a battery backup comes into play, correct power is always supplied from a functioning unit, regardless of environmental conditions.

It is also possible a loose connection is being jostled during movement to other locations. Been there, done that, if you don't think a PC could first be jostled ON, then OFF, and in fact ON a third time, think again.

Once you have eliminated the improbable, the impossible is all that's left.

  4. PC doesnt boot into safe mode either.

I thing I havent tried. Since you mention defective keyboard or mouse ... I have never tried this but if I unplug the KB and mouse entirely, will windows still boot up? May seem like a silly question but I have just never tried it.

Depends on the BIOS (the stop on error setting). I've seen them boot and not boot.

As everyone else has pointed out, since you now know the PC is good, you need to start swapping out other parts one at a time until it works.

Also, with your monitor, look up the model number and ensure you are using the native resolution. You will get a much better picture using the native resolution.

  6. Wow. I cant believe this. I finally got it figured out.

I ended up trying a new outlet with a new surge protector. Same thing. Unplugged the mouse and keyboard. Boot into windows fine. Plug in the keyboard. Boot into windows. Plug in the mouse. Problem was back. Its the same mouse I have always used. I couldnt figure it out. I decided to change the battery cause, well, why not? Guess what .. it worked.

So we are all up and running now.

I would like to thank all of you who posted and gave me advice. I very very much appreciate it. Your help was invaluable.

    Thank you again guys.
