    Downloaded MSU FieldShiftFixer for avisynth 2.5, made my script as suggested in the readme, then opened in virtualdub1.72... after 5-10 frames, it crashes with a 'memory access' error. That's with a .d2v file from dgindex. Tried converting to midvid jpeg then running the script, but same thing.

    My pc's a p4 3gb hyperthread, with 4gb's ddr2 667 in dual channel mode... 'should' be enough.

    I've downloaded avisynth2.0, as the MSU package had filters for both 2.0 and 2.5.

    2.5 didn't work, so will try 2.0.

    Any other suggestions?

  2. Hi-
    Any other suggestions?
    Yes, use TIVTC or Decomb to fix phase shifted fields, if indeed that's what's wrong with the video. Do you know how to tell? Ordinarily you'd do this only for PAL sources, but you're in Canada. Maybe you need a real IVTC. Maybe you have a real interlaced source. If you're not sure of what you're doing, maybe upload a small sample of the source so we can have a look. If the problem really is shifted fields, if using Decomb, then:

    AssumeTFF()#if TFF
    Telecide(Guide=2)

    If using TIVTC:

    TFM()

    thanks manono...

    Basically just playing around with filters, getting a handle on what does what.

    The clip I'm playing with 'is' TFF interlaced, but looks as if one field (lower I think), is shifted a bit, and, as the clip plays, the image looks a little wavy, like the fields are a little slow here and there. A portion near the top shifts in and out, then a lower portion shifts in and out. Kinda looks like a 'slight' flutter of a flag.

    I'm guessing it's from the tape recorded on one machine, but transfered with another, as some machines do act this way. I know the tape wasn't like that with the original unit. I'm currently shopping for a jvc svhs so I can recapture, but just playing around and learning until then. And if, even with a better transfer the problem remains, then at least I'd know how to go about it.

    Just couldn't figure out why the filter would cause vdub to crash, thought it might be the cpu setting or something.

    cheers
